Diversifying energy supply.

In 2012, LNG via our FSRU increased Israel’s energy independence by replacing natural gas supply from Egypt, which had become unreliable. Since then, the terminal has provided additional security of supply for the energy sector instead of relying on one single source of gas. In 2012, LNG via our FSRU increased Israel’s energy independence by replacing natural gas supply from Egypt, which had become unreliable. Since then, the terminal has provided additional security of supply for the energy sector instead of relying on one single source of gas. This allows Israel to take advantage of market pricing conditions and purchase additional LNG with surplus supplies going to industrial plants connected to the gas distribution network – with all benefiting from lower prices. The terminal also provides an added safeguard in the case of an unforeseen event.
