Excelerate Energy’s floating terminals are designed to operate as self-contained systems for long periods of time, so it must sustainably and safely manage water and waste. The company has implemented environmental management practices to minimize the impact on the environment, including spill prevention, sewage treatment, waste reduction, and ballast water management. 

Excelerate Energy is committed to protecting marine habitats. The company partners with  leading organizations to develop innovative solutions that minimize its impact on the environment. For example, Excelerate Energy has partnered with Cornell University and EOM Offshore to develop a state-of-the-art system that detects the presence of right whales in Massachusetts Bay. This system uses acoustic buoys to listen for the calls of right whales and then transmit their location in near real-time to local and federal agencies. This information is then made available to commercial and fishing vessels transiting the area, allowing them to adjust their course and speed to avoid possible whale strikes. Since the project was launched, whale strikes and entanglements have drastically reduced in the area where the buoys are deployed.

Excelerate Energy’s workforce consists of 1,046 colleagues worldwide, including 698 seafarers onboard its floating terminals and 348 onshore employees. The company’s onshore employees are based at its corporate headquarters and regional offices worldwide, while its seafarers work aboard its floating terminals around the world.
