Success Story: Energy Reliability

We provide reliability during peak demand.

We add stability to seasonal markets.

Our terminals deliver a stable, reliable supply of clean energy during the most demanding months to ensure industries remain open and homes stay warm even during the coldest days of the year.

In 2007, Argentina’s natural gas supply could not match the expanding economy and increased energy consumption, and the country faced energy outages for the winter. With limited supply, Argentina faced the difficult decision between keeping the economy moving by powering the industrial market or keeping its citizens safe and warm during the cold winter months. We partnered with YPF to develop a fast-track LNG import solution to solve the shortfalls. Over a decade later, we continue to help Argentina meet peak seasonal demand.

With a population of 14 million people, New England’s vibrant economy depends on a stable supply of clean, affordable energy. But due to its location, this area of the United States faces challenges keeping the power flowing and homes warm during the coldest days of the year. In recent years, New England has become more dependent on natural gas, but its existing infrastructure cannot support spikes in demand, especially during cold snaps. This has led to price uncertainty and the need to burn fuel oil. LNG imports from our terminal provide a stable, reliable supply of energy to power and heat homes and businesses during the coldest days. In 2019, consumers saved an estimated $1.2 billion in power and heating costs as a result of the LNG supplied by our Northeast Gateway Deepwater Port.
