For nearly a decade, Pakistan had experienced an unprecedented energy crisis that impacted an array of business sectors across the country and quality of life, in general. In 2015, our team, in partnership with Engro Corporation, implemented the country’s first LNG import terminal, Engro Elengy Terminal Limited (EETL), to alleviate the energy deficit. Our operations in Pakistan provide as much as 15 percent of the country’s domestic daily natural gas requirements and revived numerous industrial facilities now that natural gas is more widely and reliably available – specifically to the fertilizer and garment industries. Since being introduced to the country, LNG has saved Pakistan nearly $5 billion by displacing more expensive fuel oil imports.

Bangladesh, one of the world’s fastest-growing economies, knows firsthand the integral role LNG plays to ensure the vitality of a country’s future. Through our two floating LNG terminals, Bangladesh has undergone rapid industrialization, bringing several power plants, fertilizer factories, and industrial users to peak production levels after previously being dormant. The expansion of energy across the region has contributed a 20 to 30 percent uplift in the country’s total gas supply. Through a strong partnership with the country’s leadership, Excelerate Energy has delivered over 500 million MMBtu of natural gas to customers in the port city of Chattogram.
