The management team at Excelerate Energy includes many individuals who were integrally involved in the development and execution of Excelerate’s floating regasification system from concept through implementation, dating back to 1999. Our leadership has experience in all aspects of the LNG value chain, including LNG supply procurement, LNG terminal development, and LNG ship chartering and construction.
Steven Kobos was named Excelerate Energy’s president and managing director in 2018 after serving in an integral capacity within the company as a board member and counsel for the previous 11 years. His association with Excelerate’s primary shareholder and founder George Kaiser spans more than two decades and includes advisory roles as an attorney, director, and developer on various projects. His first significant engagement with Excelerate came in 2007 when he spent three months in Kuwait negotiating what would become the region’s first LNG import terminal. He has since held a seat at the deal table in a multitude of international FSRU re-gas projects. Steven is proud to call Excelerate Energy his home and to lead a team that embodies the company’s core values of stewardship, accountability, improvement, and leadership.
For the past 27 years, Steven has focused on complex energy and infrastructure development projects, general maritime operations and, specifically, LNG shipping, FSRUs, chartering of vessels, shipbuilding contracts, operational agreements, and related project finance and tax matters. Steven is also an experienced international negotiator, specifically for EPC contracts for the construction of floating regasification import terminal infrastructure, chartering FSRUs for use as LNG importation terminals, and related services and equipment procurement.
Steven earned a Juris Doctorate, with highest honors, in 1990 and a Bachelor of Arts in 1986, both from the University of Oklahoma. He is a member of the Tulsa County, Oklahoma, Texas and American Bar Associations.
Daniel Bustos is the Chief Commercial Officer for Excelerate Energy, with responsibility for the commercial development of our LNG importation projects. He formerly served as the senior vice president of project origination for Excelerate Energy.
Prior to joining Excelerate, Daniel worked for Repsol YPF in various positions for both E&P and downstream business in Latin America, including leading Repsol´s oil and gas commercial activities in Bolivia, development of the propane business in Latin America, and managing strategic planning and development for the natural gas division in Argentina, Bolivia and Brazil. In 2007, Daniel was part of the Repsol´s team that developed Bahía Blanca GasPort®, the world´s first floating regasification terminal.
Daniel earned a Nuclear Engineering Degree from Instituto Balseiro (Argentina) in 1997 and holds both a Nuclear Engineering Master Degree and an MBA in Corporate Finance.
Kenny McGeachie is responsible for the delivery of all of Excelerate’s Floating LNG projects from engineering concepts through detailed design and construction to handover for commissioning.
Prior to joining Excelerate, Kenny had the sole responsibility for the safe engineering, procurement and construction of various gas pipeline and associated gas processing facility projects for px Limited located in the UK. With over 30 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, Kenny has held many senior managerial positions from operations to engineering and project execution.
Kenny earned degrees in Mechanical and Production Engineering.
As Chief Operating Officer at Excelerate Energy, Ed Scott is responsible for the implementation of the operations, technical and administrative initiatives of the company. He formerly served as senior vice president of development with responsibility for the development, permitting, and construction of our LNG importation projects.
Prior to joining Excelerate full time, Ed worked as a technical consultant for the company, with primary responsibilities for oversight of the ship construction program at DSME, as well as the design, fabrication, installation, and commissioning of the Gulf Gateway® Deepwater Port.
Previous industry experience includes the development of a Capital Projects Group for ENSCO International and leading this group in developing complex and technical solutions to industry demands for highly capable and reliable gas Exploration & Production assets. This effort included the highly successful design and construction of a new series of deepwater-capable semi-submersible drilling platforms.
Ed earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Maine Maritime Academy in 1989.
