Our Role in the Energy Transition
Excelerate is changing the way the world accesses cleaner, more reliable energy by delivering regasified LNG, benefitting hundreds of millions of people around the world. From our founding, we have focused on providing flexible LNG solutions to emerging markets in diverse environments across the globe, providing a lesser emitting form of energy to markets that often rely on coal as their primary energy source.
We believe that natural gas and LNG will play a significant role in the global energy transition. Even the most aggressive scenarios that call for a larger role for renewables and new emissions reduction technology in decarbonization efforts fail to achieve the Paris Agreement’s goals without substantial growth in natural gas volumes, including in the form of LNG, through 2040.
Minimizing Emissions
We are committed to helping our customers achieve their decarbonization targets and taking proactive steps to minimize our own operational carbon footprint. In accordance with the requirements of governmental authorities, including the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency in respect of our Northeast Gateway terminal, and our lenders, including the International Finance Corporation in respect of our Moheshkhali terminal in Bangladesh, we regularly monitor, track and report environmental performance.
As part of our ESG program, we are working to establish a robust protocol for monitoring and reporting on GHG emissions-focused key performance indicators for our FSRU fleet and onshore facilities. A list of these key performance indicators is shown below.
