The management team at Excelerate Energy includes many individuals who were integrally involved in the development and execution of Excelerate’s floating regasification system from concept through implementation, dating back to 1999. Our leadership has experience in all aspects of the LNG value chain, including LNG supply procurement, LNG terminal development, and LNG ship chartering and construction.
Steven Kobos is the Managing Director of Excelerate Energy.
Prior to joining Excelerate in March 2018, Steven served the company for 11 years as an attorney for Frederic Dorwart Law. During that time, Kobos focused on Excelerate’s operational, development and contractual transactions. His full 27 years of experience encompasses a concentration on complex energy and infrastructure development projects, LNG shipping, FSRUs, chartering of vessels, shipbuilding contracts, operational agreements, and related project finance and tax matters. He has played a lead role in negotiations for EPC contracts for construction of floating regasification import terminal infrastructure, chartering FSRUs for use as LNG importation terminals, and negotiations for related services and equipment procurement in the Middle East, Asia, South America, Europe, and the United States. He also advised clients on maritime law, project financing, entity selection and organization, and equipment procurement issues related to domestic and international projects and transactions. In addition, he represented clients in banking and fiduciary matters.
Steven earned a Juris Doctorate, with highest honors, in 1990 and a Bachelor of Arts in 1986, both from the University of Oklahoma. He is a member of the Tulsa County, Oklahoma, Texas and American bar associations.
Nick Bedford returned to Excelerate Energy in 2012 to assume the position as the company’s chief financial officer. Nick formerly served as director of Risk, Accounting & Projects following the creation of the joint venture between RWE and George Kaiser in 2008. Nick was instrumental in helping to build the finance function within Excelerate Energy and worked closely with all areas of the business to help develop the company’s business model.
In 2011, Nick left Excelerate Energy to set up RWE Trading Americas, a 100% subsidiary of RWE Supply and Trading, as a new coal-trading venture in New York City. Nick was the CFO for this office and was responsible for all support functions of the entity including accounting, treasury, legal, credit, risk and IT.
Nick is a chartered accountant of the Institute of England and Wales qualifying in 2002 from the Andersen audit department, Bristol, UK. Nick subsequently joined the RWE Supply and Trading energy unit in Swindon, UK for five years where he held a variety of finance and risk positions before leaving on sabbatical in 2007 as the head of the UK management accounting and performance team.
During his sabbatical Nick volunteered for Raleigh International, a youth development charity, in Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia.
Daniel Bustos is the Chief Development Officer for Excelerate Energy, with responsibility for the commercial development of our LNG importation projects. He formerly served as the senior vice president of project origination for Excelerate Energy.
Prior to joining Excelerate, Daniel worked for Repsol YPF in various positions for both E&P and downstream business in Latin America, including leading Repsol´s oil and gas commercial activities in Bolivia, development of the propane business in Latin America, and managing strategic planning and development for the natural gas division in Argentina, Bolivia and Brazil. In 2007, Daniel was part of the Repsol´s team that developed Bahía Blanca GasPort®, the world´s first floating regasification terminal.
Daniel earned a Nuclear Engineering Degree from Instituto Balseiro (Argentina) in 1997 and holds both a Nuclear Engineering Master Degree and an MBA in Corporate Finance.
Kenny McGeachie is responsible for the delivery of all of Excelerate’s Floating LNG projects from engineering concepts through detailed design and construction to handover for commissioning.
Prior to joining Excelerate, Kenny had the sole responsibility for the safe engineering, procurement and construction of various gas pipeline and associated gas processing facility projects for px Limited located in the UK. With over 30 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, Kenny has held many senior managerial positions from operations to engineering and project execution.
Kenny earned degrees in Mechanical and Production Engineering.
As Chief Operating Officer at Excelerate Energy, Ed Scott is responsible for the implementation of the operations, technical and administrative initiatives of the company. He formerly served as senior vice president of development with responsibility for the development, permitting, and construction of our LNG importation projects.
Prior to joining Excelerate full time, Ed worked as a technical consultant for the company, with primary responsibilities for oversight of the ship construction program at DSME, as well as the design, fabrication, installation, and commissioning of the Gulf Gateway® Deepwater Port.
Previous industry experience includes the development of a Capital Projects Group for ENSCO International and leading this group in developing complex and technical solutions to industry demands for highly capable and reliable gas Exploration & Production assets. This effort included the highly successful design and construction of a new series of deepwater-capable semi-submersible drilling platforms.
Ed earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Maine Maritime Academy in 1989.
