Operational Financial Analyst

Department: Finance & Operations
Reports To: Manager – FP&A & Operations
Location: The Woodlands, TX


Operates and maintains a document control system and performs records information services in accordance with company and/or regulatory requirements. Verifies procedures are in place to classify and maintain records. Enforces documentation formatting, standards, policies, and operating procedure requirements. Coordinates implementation of processes to classify and maintain documents. May conduct document management training.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Include but are not limited to the following activities:

  • Assist FP&A Manager in the development of the corporate budget, management reports, and other ad hoc reports;
  • Assist consultants, advisors, and auditors as required;
  • Develop financial models to facilitate business valuation and identify financial impacts of business transactions, including vessel financings and acquisitions;
  • Assist in research and prepare reports on subjects such as IRR, NPV, tax impact; depreciation, working capital, investment opportunities, and investment performance;
  • Interpret and apply corporate financial policies and accounting theory;
  • Conduct business process audit and make recommendations to management regarding streamlining of operations, cost savings, and profitability improvement strategies;
  • Coordinate with all levels of management to gather, analyze, summarize, and prepare recommendations regarding financial plans, acquisition activity, and business planning;
  • Contract familiarization to ensure company financial obligations are adhered to;
  • Support the operations project controls team  in the development, tracking, reporting and documentation of project operational costs;
  • Assist in reviewing and coding invoices including validating against purchase orders in SAP;
  • Participate in annual budget development meetings and assist in accounting system projects set-up and workflows; and
  • Other tasks as necessary to ensure the efficient day-to-day operation of the company’s projects

Qualifications & Educational Requirements: 

  • BS in Finance, Accounting or Business Administration; MBA, Master’s in Finance or Accounting preferred
  • 2-3 years prior experience in public accounting, FP&A or related work experience
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Energy industry experience preferred

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: 

  • CPA or CPA candidate

  • Understand and develop a financial model with complex inputs from operation and tax
  • Entry-level understanding of project cost control fundamentals Conduct business meeting and present to all levels of management, including senior executives
  • Collaborate to help the team succeed and also work independently
  • Manage time constraints and unpredictable schedules to re-prioritize to achieve maximum accuracy on the work product
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States.
